It would have been some really interesting character development (and he had so much potential!), though I wonder if he's going to come back now that Korra's able to return people's bending - I really hope so, anyway, even if the dynamic will be different now.

Finally! Someone understands! Tahno doesn't need his bending to be awesome! 
Non-benders rule, especially if they can survive in a world where people shoot fire balls, water whips and cause landsides out of thin air! You have to be one badass muthafucka to live in a world like that without powers!
